Dancer Casting
Country dancers, line dancers, and partner couples cast out of the Austin honky-tonk scene. These are people who dance at Sagebrush, Donn's Depot, Sam's Town Point, the Broken Spoke, and the White Horse on their own time, so it holds up in close-up. Two dancers or a hundred. For Swiping America we cast the band too.
Choreography
Traditional progressive Texas two-step, honky-tonk two-step, Texas swing, polka, waltz, Cajun two-step, Cajun waltz, and line dances. Built for the frame rather than for a stage, and choreographed to the shot list, so the dance fits the lens, the take, and the dance floor the set actually has.
On-Camera Instruction
Cast to teach a lesson on camera for unscripted and competition formats, including dating shows. Vanessa Vaught also sits for interviews as a country dance expert for news, documentary, and feature pieces. A working instructor, not an actor playing one.
Actor and Talent Prep
Actors and musicians taught before the shoot day, in sessions built around the moves the scene actually uses. Book Private Lessons when talent is available weeks out. A focused prep block the day before does more than most people expect.

Atmosphere and Crowd Work
A honky-tonk set full of extras who do not dance reads as fake immediately. We fill the dance floor behind your principals with dancers who hold a look, repeat a take, and stay out of the eyeline.
Which two-step does your scene need?
Traditional progressive Texas two-step travels counterclockwise around a big open dance hall. Honky-tonk two-step holds a tighter footprint, which is what a packed Austin dance floor forces you into. It depends on the room you are shooting in, and Texans notice when a production gets it backwards.
Two things worth budgeting for
Dancers are principal performers under every SAG-AFTRA agreement, never background or background special ability. And under the 2026 SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical Agreement, choreographers are covered performers for the first time.

SAG-AFTRA classifies dancers as principal performers under all of its agreements, and they should not be hired as background or background special ability. Choreographers and assistant choreographers came under SAG-AFTRA coverage for the first time in the 2026 TV/Theatrical Agreement. Both matter when a production is building the budget, so check the current terms at SAG-AFTRA.
Can you teach an actor to two-step for a role?
Yes. Double or Nothing Two-Step teaches actors, musicians, and principal talent to two-step and line dance before a shoot day, in private sessions built around the specific moves the scene needs. Book Private Lessons when talent is available weeks out, or a focused prep session when it is not.
Do you travel for shoots outside Austin?
Double or Nothing Two-Step will go anywhere the shoot is. Vanessa Vaught is based in Austin, Texas, works throughout the Texas Hill Country and the rest of the state, and flies out for productions elsewhere. Travel is quoted with the production.
How far in advance should a production book?
Reach out as soon as the shoot date is set. Casting a room of country dancers takes longer than casting a couple, and actor prep works best with several sessions rather than one. Same-week requests are worth asking about, because it depends entirely on what the shoot needs.
